First Layer Test – Ultimate Diagnostic | 12-in-1
12 Diagnostic Tests. One Print. Better First Layers!
Take your 3D printer calibration to the next level with the First Layer Test – Ultimate Diagnostic, an advanced 12-in-1 calibration model designed to help identify first-layer printing problems quickly and efficiently.
Instead of running multiple separate calibration prints, this model combines 12 diagnostic patterns into one carefully designed test.
Check Z-offset, extrusion consistency, bed adhesion, line spacing, fine details, directional printing, and more — all in a single print!
12 Diagnostic Test Functions
01 – Z-Offset Surface
Evaluate first-layer squish, line bonding, gaps, and excessive material compression.
02 – Extrusion Consistency
Check extrusion uniformity using multiple parallel test strips.
03 – Line Spacing
Inspect how your printer handles different distances between extrusion lines.
04 – Circular Accuracy
Evaluate first-layer quality around concentric circular patterns.
05 – X-Direction Test
Check extrusion consistency and adhesion along the X-axis.
06 – Y-Direction Test
Compare first-layer performance along the Y-axis.
07 – Diagonal Movement
Examine extrusion quality at 45° and 135° angles.
08 – Fine Detail Test
Evaluate small squares, narrow features, and short extrusion lines.
09 – Precision Grid
Identify inconsistent extrusion and local first-layer imperfections.
10 – Corner Quality
Compare sharp corners and rounded transitions to identify material buildup.
11 – Adhesion Islands
Test how well small, independent shapes adhere to the build plate.
12 – Bed Consistency
Compare identical reference squares across different areas of the build plate to identify local differences.
Two Available Sizes
Standard Version
- Nominal test area: 180 × 180 mm
- Actual model dimensions: 176 × 176 mm
- Ideal for many standard FDM printers
Large Version
- Nominal test area: 280 × 280 mm
- Actual model dimensions: 276 × 276 mm
- Designed for larger build plates
Both versions preserve the same diagnostic feature dimensions for consistent testing.

Use your normal first-layer settings when testing your printer. Avoid changing multiple settings at once, so you can identify which adjustment improves the result.
How to Read the Results
Smooth, Connected Lines: Generally indicate good first-layer bonding and extrusion consistency.
Visible Gaps: May indicate insufficient first-layer squish or under-extrusion.
Rough or Raised Surfaces: May indicate excessive first-layer squish or over-extrusion.
Missing Fine Details: Check first-layer settings, slicer line width, and adhesion.
Poor Adhesion: Check build plate cleanliness, temperature, and Z-offset.
Uneven Results Across the Bed: May indicate leveling, bed mesh compensation, or local adhesion issues.
Important: This model provides visual diagnostic information. It does not directly measure exact Z-offset values or flow percentages.
Why Choose Ultimate Diagnostic?
A reliable first layer is the foundation of successful 3D printing.
Whether you are troubleshooting failed prints, testing a new filament, changing a nozzle, or checking your build plate, the Ultimate Diagnostic provides multiple useful checks in one efficient calibration print.
Its lightweight design helps reduce filament consumption while providing detailed visual feedback.
For best results, inspect the sliced toolpaths before printing, especially the smallest details.
